Sunday Series on SATURDAY hike #7 ASP Osgood Trail (again)

Date:
Saturday, June 7, 2014 - 08:30

Saturday 8:30 AM we'll meet at the base of Osgood Trail in A.S.P. (This will beat the gate fee and get us back in time for people to make their afternoon appointments.)  The purpose of this hike is to test out your packing list for the Snowy Mt. hike.  Pack as though you are going up Snowy to stay the night in unknown weather conditions.

For the Snowy Mt. Trip:  Remember that you are packing your own food but will need to buddy up on carrying a tent (make some agreement with your tent buddy) .  This will give you an idea of  your packing ability for more or less gear, food, water etc... (a short experience compared to what Snowy will seem like).  We'll stop at the top for a quick breakout lunch and you can test your "cooking and eating gear".  I'll provide a propane stove and an alchohol stove... that's it.  Want more?  Carry more.  (Oooo. He sounds tough.)  Well, I'm not carrying anyone elses gear.  If you bring too much you can always leave it on the trail. We come back the same way we go up and we can GPS tag it.  Oh, yeah, one more thing: There are three geocaches on this trail near the summit.  If you'd like to bring swag to trade from / to the cache, feel free to do so.  I plan to bag three more caches (at least) on this trip!
